Queenie Baby On Assignment Romantic Comedy Mystery edition by Christina A Burke Romance eBooks

I enjoyed Queenie Baby: On Assignment by Christina Burke. I flipped over the last page and literally said out loud, "What? No!!!"

The characters were well developed and for the most part believable. And fun!

Diana Hudson is just a normal, average temp worker in Annapolis. She only temps to support herself as she works to be discovered as a musician. Temp worker by day, and bar performer by night. She lives by herself in a top floor condo in an old restored building. The downstairs neighbor is a little psycho, and wants the building to herself.

The story begins with Diana going out on her new assignment as a temp. To do transcription work for a vampire! Who needs help with his love life...

At a performance at a local club, Diana meets Mark, handsome, funny, and the owner of the temp agency where she works. But he violates two dating rules, never date someone she meets at a bar, or someone she works with.

Then at a picnic with her family, she is reunited with her high schools sweetheart, Rick..also handsome, funny, and the owner of his own business. But, they broke up years ago! When by the end of the evening she finds herself in the back of her sister's van with him, she realizes that he is going to be a force to be reckoned with.

This book was funny, well written and had a great story to follow concerning funds that were disappearing from the temp agency. I had so much fun with it, and literally laughed out loud any number of times as I read it.

Highly recommended!

Queenie Baby On Assignment Romantic Comedy Mystery edition by Christina A Burke Romance eBooks Reviews

If your looking for a fun fast paced lighthearted love story this is it. Career trouble, weirdness at work, wacky but lovable family members, two gorgeous men in pursuit of her make Diana Hudson's life non stop chaos. She is an attractive blonde who writes music and sings gigs hoping one day to make a career of her music. In the meantime she works for a temp agency to pay the bills and she owns an apartment condo with a elderly female neighbor constantly calling the cops on her. She reconnects with her hunky ex-boyfriend after 12 years with the help of her sister and physical sparks fly immediately. In the meantime back at the temp agency the owners nephew is sent to examine the books and has an immediate liking for Diana and her for him. Real fun read. I'm looking forward to a sequel.
I really loved this book.
Diana is a part time songwriter and performer, temp and full time chill out babe. She has the best attitude, she is hardworking (even though she does not have a conventionally understood successful career) and she has the best sense of humor. Her family is crazy, although I did not warm up to them much (her sister and mother got in my nerves in a bad way, I can’t believe that sisters can be so horrible to each other, they usually are when they are younger but later on become closer, it was sad and a little off putting to read their cold and aggressive conversations).
The plot thickens when a new hot boss shows up, a matured and in love ex boyfriend, a vampire, a crazy jerky addicted grandparent and an even crazier neighbor all show up and start complicating Diana’s life.
It is light, fun and original. I loved her granddaddy and the love interests (and Max!). Diana seems fresh, very original character, not the typical neurotic protagonists of chick lit.
I strongly recommend this book!
QUEENIE BABY On Assignment by Christina A. Burke is a fun, quirky read. I finished the book in two sittings. It is part romance, mystery and has plenty of kooky characters to keep you reading. The writing is fresh and immediately sucks you in. The main character, Diana, is down-to-earth and someone you would want to hang out with and be friends with. The author has a keen sense of humor and the pacing was perfect. You really feel as though you get to know Diana.
Diana is a temp worker by day and singer/songwriter by night. Her best friend is her boss, Carol, who runs the temp agency. Before long it looks as though the agency might close and Carol will be setup as the fall guy for an embezzling scheme. You meet several endearing characters that keep the story funny and right in the middle of the chaos two hot guys compete for Diana.
The story has a few loose ends that will be followed up in book 2. I can't wait to read it.
Cute book, with quirky characters and a little mystery.

Nutshell Queenie baby is a singer/temp and gets herself involved with a mystery and two men. She needs to solve both problems.

Good Characters are original. Wish they would've spent more time with the family. Saw more potential of hilarity with them. Liked the potential new boyfriend and her vampire boss.

Bad They mystery was a little bit of a mystery. The main character wasn't directly involved so it was hard to get invested into the mystery and care what happened to the people involved. The ex boyfriend was annoying, and clingy, to the point where I couldn't even breathe when he was around. I don't know how the main character could stand it.

I will be continuing with the series.
Writing distinct yet memorable characters can sometimes feel cliché, but Burke successfully managed to make each character in Queenie Baby their own quirky `self.' Add a breezy style of writing and laugh-out-loud situations (I love the way this author's mind works!) and it gets even better.

Add a little romantic angst with more than one guy (okay, maybe it was a tad past `romance' and into `lust'), a little mystery and a `bad guy' and it's even more fun.

I enjoyed it more than Stephanie Plum (which, after three books, I got tired of, so I hope Burke doesn't drag this out too much and ruin it). But then again, I'm an author and musician myself and could relate to crazy personalities (I think I know some of those people!!) AND to Diana's need to write songs.

There wasn't a typical resolution to the `mystery' part of the story, which can sometimes irritate me (I'm not a fan of series that end a book right in the middle of a story). But it had enough `closure' (in the relationship area) that I didn't feel too bad about it ending... while still leaving room for the next book in the series.
