"Hamilton" tickets are hard to come by, allowing almost anyone who sees it time for advance preparation, both by familiarizing oneself with the cast album, and by learning the history. Both will enhance the experience. The events in "Hamilton" took place in New York City and environs, and many of the now-historic sites are still available to visit. The author carefully researched the history (NB: not everything in the show is strictly factual!) and provides guidance in touring New York City to see the locations.
A much better "Hamilton"-related souvenir than the T-shirts or drinking glasses. If I were giving "Hamilton" tickets as a gift, I'd include this book.

Interesting book. Bought it because I was searching for "things to do" that are good for an out-of-towner. Family liked the tie-in to the musical/play. Found it really helpful and an easy read, IMHO.
if you're obsessed with all things Hamilton as so many (myself included) are you'll want to add this one to your Hamil-shelf.
Loved having this along for our recent trip to NYC! I'll be visiting again with friends in a few months and I look forward to going to more places! I do wish there was a suggested tour/ order of visit guide and a map, to make it easier to plan out excursions.
Very much enjoyed this book as a fan of history generally and of the musical. I wish I had this in May when my daughter and I did our own amateur Hamilton tour on the day we saw the musical. While we saw many of the sites listed in the book (at least those in South Manhattan), I missed numerous others that were In close proximity to where we were. And the book really integrates the actual history with the musical. Very well done specialty book.
As an obsessed Hamilton fan, I couldn't wait to read this on my . So interesting and I love how you can find where the locations from the play and background information. It also includes if the location still exists and if you can visit. I have already marked my map!!! Totally great!!!
With this text in hand, we walked the streets of New York singing "Hamilton" lyrics and seeing history come alive. What fun to discover new places (The Morris Jumel Mansion and The Grange) and to rediscover old favorites like Trinity Church and lunch at Fraunces Tavern. This book helped guide us to sights and gave concise info--just enough for tourists and a guide to where you could find more if you wanted to study more about the history of the event.
Made for a great weekend walk around Manhattan.
Where Was the Room Where It Happened? is not only great as a companion piece to the musical, but is also a resource for the casual student of history. Even if your only prior exposure to Hamilton is reading The Federalist Papers in undergrad or carrying around the occasional ten dollar bill, you'll still get something out of Where Was the Room Where It Happened? Highly recommended.
